Activities

The main activities of the Spanish CO2 Technology Platform are:

• Promoting R&D plans on CO2 capture, transportation, storage and utilisation technologies, especially in the fields of energy, the environment and industry.
• Supporting initiatives by Spanish companies aimed at the big demonstration plants being developed in Europe and consolidating those already under way.
• Promoting, together with the EU, a specific legislative framework for CO2 capture, transportation, storage and utilisation allowing major projects to be carried out in Spain.
• Creating and using technologies that reduce CO2 emissions in the sectors involved in the national emissions allocation plan.
• Identifying and supporting the development of storage facilities.
• Promoting the necessary legislative and regulatory framework allowing capture and storage to be a regulated activity in which duties and responsibilities are clearly defined.
• Publicising technologies relating to CO2 capture, transportation, storage and utilisation with the aim of cultivating an objective perception in society of these technologies’ role and potential.
