Rotterdam project, "ROAD" (Netherlands)
The "Rotterdam Capture, Storage and Demonstration project" (ROAD) is the first large-scale demo CCS technology project in the Netherlands and is supported by the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR).
Sleipner Project (Offshore Norway, Central North Sea)
First CO2 storage project in Europe (1996). Statoil Hydro started operating "Sleipner", a natural gas field. As a process of gas purification (9% of CO2 concentrated), a process of CO2 capture (through the absorption technique) and re-injection of captured CO2 was established.
